Our passion is to deliver a curriculum that secures the very best for every student. Our curriculum is broad, ambitious and encourages every young person to be the best they can be. We recognise and value each individual, and therefore every student has a bespoke offer. We adapt our curriculum to meet their needs, while ensuring that all students across our primary and secondary phases access a full-time education of over 30 hours each week.
As an alternative provision, our curriculum is designed with a clear and distinctive purpose. We recognise that our students often arrive with a range of barriers to learning, and therefore our objectives go beyond academic success alone. We aim to support students to re-engage with education, develop confidence, and build the skills they need for a positive future.
Our curriculum is built around two equally important strands: the academic curriculum and the specialist curriculum. These have different but complementary objectives and work together to support the whole child.
Our academic curriculum provides students with the knowledge, skills and qualifications they need for their next steps. In the primary phase and Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9), this is broadly aligned with the National Curriculum and adapted to meet individual starting points. At Key Stage 4 (Years 10–11), students work towards the equivalent of seven Level 2 qualifications.
Our specialist curriculum focuses on personal development, emotional wellbeing and readiness to learn. It is delivered through our ‘Be the Best You Can Be’ and Enrichment curriculum. This strand supports students to develop resilience, confidence, self-regulation and positive relationships – enabling them to access learning and succeed.
Together, these two strands ensure that we meet the diverse needs of our students, valuing progress in all its forms. By giving equal importance to academic achievement and personal development, we enable every young person to thrive.
